Back from New York
I am back from New York and getting ready for the holidays. If you never worked in IT, the pre-holiday time is the worst. Every lazy user, who was sitting on his ass for months doing nothing, suddenly realizes that its the end of the year and nothing has been done. So he submits a ton of trouble tickets for us IT folks to work on, so his lazy stupid ass can have an excuse for not doing his work. And then he goes on vacation.
In 99% of these tickets, there is nothing wrong and the remaining 1% are usually problems caused by the user in the first place. I deal primarily with engineering users. One would think engineers should be good with computers. Younger generation of engineers take many comp-sci courses in college. In reality, however, older engineers seem to know more about computers than their younger colleagues. Can’t explain it, other than the quality of education in American colleges continues to slide down the shitter.
Anyway, not be overly negative, if you are staying in New York for a few days and looking for a good places to eat, here are a few joints in Manhattan you may enjoy: Plataforma Restaurant at 316 W 49 St (Brazilian cuisine); Le Rivage at 340 W 46 St (French); Nino’s delicatessen at 39 W 46 St (Italian). During my stay in the Big Apple I made it a point to stuff my face at almost every restaurant I came across, so you might as well benefit from the ten pounds I gained: the three places mentioned above are definitely worth checking out.
And at the last moment I managed to score a ticket to the sold-out “Cyrano de Bergerac” play at the Richard Rodgers Theater with Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner. Excellent performance from Kline and Garner wasn’t bad either. You would find it a $100 well spent.
